As people have different ways of expressing themselves , i love to express myself by illustrating garments.Fashion illustration as the name implies means drawing of garments on models with exaggerated features.Fashion illustrators i know are Donna Karen,David Downton to mention but a few. Actually, David is my mentor when it comes to fashion illustration.
As you can see from the pictures above,done by different known illustrators, each illustrator has his own form of uniqueness in his/her illustration.Some draw their figures very tall, others to normal human figures and some to with exaggerated features especially the legs.Illustrated figures with exaggerated features especially the legs is the best figure recommended for fashion illustration.Its very advisable to have your own form of uniqueness, but take note, even though the fashion figure enhances the beauty of the garment, details is given to the garment more.Garments illustrated can be haute couture, casual,bridal, etc .Tools and materials for illustration varies,depending on the illustrator and what he/she is comfortable with.Inspirations for garments are all around us, both artificial and natural materials.
As the adage goes 'practice makes perfect' indeed it does but one thing that can make it a reality is passion.
